Tommy Bolt always took a lot of pride in his sense of style. In fact, the easiest way to get a rise out of him was to tell him how much you admired Doug Sanders' kaleidoscopic sartorial sense.
One evening Tommy arrived for a Legends of Golf dinner in a magnificently tailored, white silk double-breasted jacket, dark slacks, and a matching tie and handkerchief.
"Tommy," a friend told him, "I just want your old clothes."
"Can't have them, son," said Tommy. "I give my cast-offs to Doug Sanders."
